John Corduroy Trousers - Brown
John corduroy trousers
The John corduroy trousers are a classic piece, our most iconic model, inspired by British tailoring tradition and reinterpreted with the De Paz style.
Crafted from 500-line or mid-wale corduroy imported from the United Kingdom, they are offered in a single brown variant, a warm and versatile shade, ideal for the autumn-winter season and easily paired with tweed jackets, knitwear, and more casual attire.
The model features double pleats, designed to provide greater room and comfort in the upper part of the trousers while maintaining an elegant and well-defined silhouette. The generous side pockets are complemented by a characteristic front watch pocket, while the externally attached buttons for braces pay direct homage to the tradition of men's tailored trousers.
CORDUROY
The corduroy is one of the most recognizable fabrics in British tradition. Its surface is characterized by the typical raised vertical ribs, which give the fabric softness, structure, and chromatic depth, creating subtle variations in tone depending on the light.
The size and distance between the cords significantly determine the character of the velvet. In Italian terminology, there are various commercial classifications based on the fineness of the ribbing, from wide-wale corduroy to velvet with finer and closer-set ribs, often identified by names such as 500, 1000, or 1500 lines.
In the English textile tradition, the classification is instead expressed through the term “wale”, which identifies the individual vertical rib of the fabric. The wide-wale features wide and very prominent ribs, with a more rustic and substantial character; the mid-wale represents an intermediate size, balanced and particularly suitable for trousers and jackets; the pinwale or needlecord, on the other hand, has very thin and close-set ribs, which give the surface a finer and more uniform appearance.
The corduroy used for our John trousers is a 500-line, with a characteristic mid-wale: a choice that keeps the vertical structure of the fabric clearly visible without making it excessively bold, finding an ideal balance between substance, softness, and informal elegance.
Warm and durable, corduroy is particularly suited to the colder season and has always been deeply linked to English country and city clothing, where it is traditionally used for trousers, jackets, and garments meant to last over time.
The De Paz John Trousers are 100% Made in Italy, made using a 100% cotton velvet selected and imported from the United Kingdom, combining the quality of the British textile tradition with Italian craftsmanship.
