CORDUROY
The velvet with ribs, or corduroy in the English tradition, can take on very different characteristics depending on the size of the vertical ribs. The Anglo-Saxon classification uses the term wale to indicate each rib: it ranges from pinwale or needlecord, which is very fine and dense, to the intermediate ribs of the mid-wale, up to the more pronounced wide-wale.
The corduroy used for these trousers is a distinctive textured corduroy, characterized by the alternation of wider ribs and thinner ribs, a construction definable in English as alternating wale or mixed-wale corduroy.
The result is a very rich and three-dimensional surface and a soft, thick, and durable fabric, capable of offering a particularly high level of warmth and comfort during the cold season.
The presence of Modal, a cellulosic fiber prized for its softness, further contributes to the pleasant feel, while a small percentage of elastane provides just the right amount of stretch to naturally accompany movement.
